Interview with Professor Wang Jisi, Leading Chinese Expert in American Studies and US-China Relations

USCET is pleased to provide an English translation to a recent interview with Professor Wang Jisi, published in the American Studies journal on occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of American Studies under Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Professor Wang is dean of the School of International Studies, Peking University, and director of the Center for International and Strategic Studies, Peking University.


American Studies Faculty Development Program, Beijing Foreign Studies University: July 16-27, 2012

The School of English and International Studies (SEIS) at Beijing Foreign Studies University is proud to announce the launch of the American Studies Faculty Development Program, which will be held from July 16-27, 2012. Funded by the Henry Luce Foundation and the U.S.-China Education Trust, this two-week intensive program aims to train qualified college faculty who will offer American studies courses in their home institutions.


USCET President Julia Chang Bloch Honored with Excellence in Achievement Award from the Cal Alumni Association

All of us at USCET congratulate Ambassador Julia Chang Bloch on her Excellence in Achievement Award from the University of California, Berkeley's Cal Alumni Association.  Ambassador Bloch accepted her award on March 24 at the annual Charter Gala event in San Francisco.  The Charter Gala is the Cal Alumni Association's signature event commemorating the founding of the University of California in 1868.


USCET Advisory Board Member Marlene Johnson Appointed to Newly Created HSAAC

USCET Advisory Board Member Marlene Johnson, who is the CEO and Executive Director of NAFSA, was recently appointed to the newly created Homeland Security Academic Advisory Council (HSAAC).  HSAAC is comprised of university presidents and academic leaders and is charged with advising Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and senior leadership at the Department of Homeland Security on issues related to U.S. higher education.  The group will have its inaugural meeting on March 20 in Washington, DC.
